Constantine A. Macris

Constantine is a co-founder of Coastal Environmental Research, Education and Innovation Foundation (Sea Reef). Constantine founded Coastal Environmental Services in 2007. CES operated pumpout vessels to remediate recreational boat waste in coastal waters. CES was a 501(C)(3) Public Charity, to receive grants and donations supplementing State of Connecticut funding, to operate pumpout vessels in coastal Connecticut. Currently Constantine is an instructor at the US Coast Guard Academy, as well as the capstone advisor working on development of Seagoing Vessel Testbed (SVT) for Industrial Controls. Under Constantine’s leadership CES earned an Honorable Mention at the 1st Maritime Award of the Americas presented by the OAS and the North American Marine Environment Protection Association (NAMEPA) recognizing excellence, innovation and sustainability in the maritime and port sectors of the Member States of the OAS.

Constantine graduated from the United States Merchant Marine Academy, holds an MBA from the University of Connecticut, is a Lieutenant Commander in the US Navy, and is enrolled in the US Naval War College, Master’s program in National Security and Strategic Studies.

A. C. (Dean) Macris

Dean Macris is the other co-founder of Coastal Environmental Research, Education and Innovation Foundation (Sea Reef). Previously he was the Vice President of CES, responsible for oversight of all operations and administrative functions. CES also operated a research vessel, and had a collaborative agreement with the Sea Research Foundation (Mystic Aquarium) to support animal rescue, recovery and release. As part of this support, he authored an article for the State of Connecticut’s Connecticut Wildlife magazine (November/December 2011) issue regarding CES and SRF joint recovery of a 550 pound Leatherback Turtle entangled in underwater lines. Dean also consulted with the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation assisting in formulating their Strategic Plan. Dean and Peter conceived and initiated the Sustainable Mystic Initiative, a strategic game plan enabling coastal communities to develop environmental resiliency in the face of climate change and human impacts.

Dean graduated from the University of Illinois, served in the US Navy as a nuclear training submarine officer, and holds an MS degree in Ocean Engineering.

Peter Glankoff

Peter’s career of over 25 years, includes leadership positions in corporate, non-profit, and advisory capacities in the areas of strategic planning, marketing, and public relations. Most recently, he was the Executive Vice President at Sea Research Foundation, which operates Mystic Aquarium. Other career positions include Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) for both the, Mystic Seaport, and Wildlife Conservation Society, parent of the Bronx Zoo, New York Aquarium, Central Park, Queens and Prospect Park Zoos. As the New York Zoological Society’s first CMO, his efforts resulted in the highest annual attendance figures in history for the Society’s four city zoos and aquarium. Peter also led an organization-wide rebranding initiative, changing the New York Zoological Society’s corporate name of 100 years to the Wildlife Conservation Society.

Peter attended Oberlin College, the New School for Social Research and New York University where he earned his undergraduate degree and pursued graduate studies in comparative literature. Peter also serves as a consultant to cultural, social welfare and environmental organizations.
